R.I.P. Kenny

12/27/76 - 2/13/09

On Tuesday, Feb 10, Kenny Callender was the victim of a senseless murder at the Newkirk Avenue subway station in Brooklyn. He worked at a center for disabled children, and was always in my building taking care of his mother. He was a great person who would always look out for the people around him, and he really made me feel welcome to my neighborhood when I first moved in (about 7 years ago).  He leaves behind a 4 yr old son and a 14 year old younger sister.  He was always very supportive of what MicWreck was trying to do, and I always appreciated that.  He will be missed.

It's been a long time...

Since MicWreck is basically a grassroots label which is funded primarily by my "day job", progress at MicWreck has moved relatively slowly over the past year or so.  Many changes in my personal life have contributed to changes in the focus of the label, but Wally and I are still pressing on.  We are currently working on putting together our first release (finally), which is an EP by producer/DJ Mike Loe.  Mike has been active in the industry for quite a while, and has produced and DJ'd for a lot of amazing artists throughout the years.  With Mike's help, along with all of the great artists who have come to support MicWreck, we hope to have the album completed and available by the end of the year.

For those who don't know Mike Loe, or would like to hear what he has to offer, check out some of the songs he has produced:
